Develop a dress collection around soft volume, a defined waist and a midi-length hem. Bring together the neckline, sleeve shape and skirt proportions to suit your brand and intended occasion.

A dress is read as a complete silhouette, so the bodice, sleeve and skirt need to work together. Start by setting the shoulder opening, neckline depth, waist position and hem length. A first fitting should check arm movement, how the waist sits and whether the skirt hangs evenly. Confirm the closure and lining approach alongside the pattern rather than leaving them until the end.
For a fluid look, compare lightweight woven fabrics with different levels of body. A crisper cloth creates more volume; a softer cloth falls closer to the wearer. Review opacity in the intended colour, seam appearance and the effect of a lining before selecting the final material. Fibre content and weight belong in the approved specification once the fabric has been selected.

Coordinate the main label, care label, closure and hanging method with the garment. Share your artwork, label placement and packing requirements with the development brief so the finished presentation is considered from the start.
