Fabric & Fit Development

Connect the fabric's behaviour with garment balance, measurements and construction.

Garment fit and measurement

Choose material
with the garment in mind.

A fabric can change how a dress falls, how a skirt holds its shape or how a trouser moves. Begin with the intended silhouette and identify the required weight, stretch, opacity and surface finish.

These choices affect the pattern and construction. Review them together rather than treating material selection as a separate decision after the fit has been established.

Material selection and fabric character

Review fabric and fit
in the sample.

Assess the garment on the agreed fit basis. Check balance, ease, key measurement points and the effect of seams, lining and closures. Consolidate material and pattern changes before the next sample is made.

Measurement and cutting alignment

Apply the material decisions.

Dresses, skirts and trousers place different demands on fabric structure and movement. Define the construction requirements for each category alongside the material specification.

The approved record should connect the fabric, garment measurements and construction details that will be used for production.
